Time to Reflect
Time to Reflect
Taking time to reflect on your performance is a crucial part of your development. That is why the assessors from K Lamb Associates spend so much time scrutinising the competences within the Effective Command Behavioural Marking Tool before facilitating a structured debrief with delegates.
West Yorkshire Fire hosted a SFJ Awards Level 4 Award (ICL2) in Intermediate Incident Command delivered by a KLA team. Delegates from Northumberland Fire joined the course leading to some fascinating group discussions and shared lived experiences during the week.
Warwickshire Fire hosted a SFJ Awards Level 6 Award (ICL3) in Advanced Incident Command joined by delegates from Lincolnshire Fire, WYFRS and an overseas delegate from our friends in Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service. An eclectic mix made for some rich discussions on topics including resourcing and command support.
Nottinghamshire Fire booked one of KLA’s revalidation assessment days. Our KLA team facilitated 2 assessments on the day, ICL2 and ICL3, with delegates facing challenging scenarios reflecting risks in their service area.
Lincolnshire Fire (LFRS) hosted the latest SFJ Awards Level 7 Award in Strategic Incident Command. Phase 1, a workshop allowing delegates to deliver a presentation and take part in 3 other professional discussions, was completed successfully. Three of LFRSs Senior Leadership Team, including CFO Mark Baxter, were joined by a delegate from Devon & Somerset Fire. The depth of experience in the room was incredible with discussions revealing the vast array of incident types managed by the group.
Greater Manchester Fire booked a day of SFJ Awards Level 7 Award in the Revalidation of Strategic Incident Command. Choosing our on-line format, 2 delegates took the role of Chair, remotely, of a Strategic Coordinating Group meeting. An immersive scenario supported by credible role players enabled the delegates to satisfy the assessment criteria.
Finally, it was Hereford & Worcester Fire that welcomed the delivery of their annual Effective Command Assessor Refresher Training and Standardisation Exercise. It’s important that assessor users of EC take time to reset their understanding of the tool in a safe environment.
