The revalidation of Incident Command

The revalidation of Incident Command continues to be a staple of the work we do at K Lamb Associates. With so many of our clients having invested in state-of-the-art training facilities including for Incident Command, it is a pleasure to spend time in the service thereby minimising the disruption to our clients.

West Yorkshire Fire invited KLA to deliver 4-days of SFJ Awards-ICL4 Revalidations to the entire WYFRS Strategic Command Team. They also opted for our pre-course IC Input session where we get to discuss case studies and the recent trends identified through the data contained within the Effective Command Behavioural Marking Tool (EC). Amazing scenarios depicting real risks in WYFRS formed the backdrop for some excellent performances. WYFRS own Command Unit Teams and functional officers enhanced the realistic environment for the delegates.

Humberside Fire asked us to deliver for them SFJ Awards-ICL2 & 3 Revalidation Days. Over the 3 days delegates got the opportunity working alongside their peers to demonstrate the skills required for the role as IC. Again, utilising Effective Command each delegate was afforded on the day constuctive feedback to reflect upon.

Further afield a KLA delivery team landed in Bermuda to continue our work with the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service. This visit, we delivered a SFJ Awards Level 3 Award in Initial Incident Command Course followed by a week of SFJ Awards-ICL1 Revalidation Assessments. Always a fascinating place to work the development, thanks to their dedication and commitment, is plain to see.

We delivered a SFJ Awards Level 6 (ICL3) Award in Advanced Incident Command to the Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service and in Merseyside Fire we delivered a SFJ Awards Level 4 Award (ICL2) in Intermediate Incident Command. On both courses delegates demonstrated a high level of performance. The internal support provided was immense allowing delegates to stretch their newly acquired skills in a safe environment.

Tyne & Wear Fire hosted phase 1 of SFJ Awards Level 4 Award in Designing and Delivering Incident Command Training. Along with their own delegates we also welcomed delegates from Cumbria Fire and Northern Island Fire. An interesting course always challenging delegates to understand the fundamentals of Incident Command Training. Phase 2 will see them delivering using acquired skills.

Finally, West Midlands Fire hosted our Strategic Commander Refresher and Strategic Group Decision Making Exercise Day. Facilitated brilliantly on behalf of KLA by Joe Hassell the entire Strategic Leadership Team were immersed in a challenging themed day encouraging group thought along with testing understanding of practical application of processes.
