Strategic Command (ICL4) Revalidation Day 

 North Yorkshire Fire invited K Lamb Associates to facilitate a SFJ Awards-Effective Command-ICL4 (Tactical) Revalidation Assessment Day. KLA’s delivery team set up a challenging day for the 2 delegates from NYFRS’s Strategic Command Team. Both delegates are invited to attend for the whole day, as one is being assessed the other observes the assessment thereby each delegate getting a fully immersive Incident Command Day. The opportunity to spend a day discussing and then demonstrating Strategic Command Skills is invaluable. Both delegates performed well managing the scenarios in a safe effective and assertive manner.

 When meeting with the Strategic Commanders from the services we work with conversation often turns to the availability of CPD at strategic command level (ICL4). At KLA we offer several options for example the SFJ Awards Level 7 Award in Revalidation of Strategic Incident Command. Aimed at those individuals that have already achieved the SFJ Awards Level 7 Award, you can now be revalidated against this award through our on-line or in person format. Through our partnership with Joe Hassell Command, we offer a Strategic Command Refresher and Group Decision Making Exercise Day. Excellently facilitated by Joe Hassell, delegates not only receive refresher input on the selected theme in the morning, but this is followed by a group decision-making exercise in the afternoon where you can put into practice your knowledge and understanding of the theme. 

 More exciting news to come, hopefully in time for the next article, is the awaited outcome of the awarding of substantial Incident Command Training contract by another UK Fire & Rescue Service. Also, we are working closely with South Yorkshire Fire Incident Command Training Team, following the award to KLA of their IC Training, as they develop a training plan for 2025/26.
