K lamb Associates are Mobile and in a Fire Service Near You.

We started last week with a K Lamb Associates (KLA) team member observing a SFJ Awards Level 3 (ICL1) Award in Initial Incident Command (Local Delivery) in Humberside Fire. It’s normal practice, where FRSs like HFRS deliver a SFJ Level 3 Award using their own Incident Command Team (ICT), that accepting the support that KLA brings, quality assurance of assessment, admin and assignment marking.

Elsewhere, KLA delivery teams were out in numbers successfully delivering, in 3 different Fire Services, a SFJ Awards-Effective Command-ICL3 Revalidation Day. The FRSs benefitting from our unique delivery format this time were Cambridgeshire Fire, Royal Berkshire Fire, and Lincolnshire Fire. All services, providing excellent in-house facilities, maximised the expertise on hand to guide the delegates through their challenging scenarios. Also, for the delegates, no additional travel incurred, no unnecessary interruption to the personal life balance, and full support from an experienced credible KLA team.

The Strategic Commander Refresher and Group Decision Making Exercises are increasing in popularity. In partnership with Joe Hassell Command, we saw successful delivery to Cambridgeshire FRS and Leicestershire Fire. Complex well thought out themes underpin the experiential learning for the groups. Whereas Royal Berkshire FRS booked the Group Decision Making Exercise version, also with Joe Hassell, a shorter format but nonetheless well designed and interactive.

An Effective Command Tool trial begins in Gloucestershire Fire (GFRS). A KLA member delivered the introduction session to a good representation of officers from GFRS. Key discussion points included the EC Training Portal with over 70 ICL1 & ICL2 training scenarios, Command Hour Collation, using the tool to record command hours, and the behavioural Marking framework including IC Levels 1-4. GFRS now get 3-months to explore EC and all the invaluable benefits for the service.

Finally, we would like to remind FRSs, and their Fire Control Commander cadre (FCC), that there was a recent launch of the SFJ Awards Level 3 Award in Fire Control Command. Aimed at Level 1 & 2 FCCs, here at KLA we offer a 4-day course satisfying the requirements of the qualification. Tried and tested, we know our course meets the needs and aligns with NOG requirements.
