A Blended Approach to Incident Command Assessments

A Blended Approach to Incident Command Assessments.

Keeping pace with the needs of our clients is of great importance to K Lamb Associates. This is why we continue to explore and offer a blend of delivery options. Our delivery teams continue to enjoy the face-to-face delivery method engaging with delegates as they develop through the levels of incident command. Alongside this method however are our remote delivery options. For example, the SFJ Awards-Effective Command-ICL1 Revalidation Assessment Day and the SFJ Awards Level 7 Award for Revalidation of Strategic Incident Command are offered with a remote delivery option.

Greater Manchester Fire are the latest Fire Service to take up the remote delivery option with KLA this time for 2 of their Strategic Commanders revalidating against the SFJ Award Level 7 Award in Strategic Incident Command. Set against a complex and challenging scenario, delegates each perform the role of Chair of an on-line Strategic Coordination Group (SCG) meeting. A well facilitated and constructed exercise allows the delegates to demonstrate the necessary skills thus generating evidence which is gathered and set against the SFJ Awards learning outcomes and assessment criteria.

“Attended the SFJ L7 Revalidation today with KLA; as ever a truly testing and immersive experience, with a range of challenges to test personal knowledge, skills and understanding. Thank you to all the team at KLA.” AM Ben Levy

“This scenario was excellent and stretched my knowledge and learning around chairing an SCG.” AM Paul Fearnhead

Again, a remote delivery method was recently used to complete our work with Derbyshire Fire (DFRS) who commissioned KLA at short notice to provide 3-days of SFJ Awards-Effective Command-ICL1 Revalidation Assessments for 12 of their ICL1 commanders. Utilising MS Teams, our 3-person team consisting of a skilled XVR Simulation Operator, course director (assessor) and a second assessor, supported by a DFRS trainer, delivered credible scenarios and assessments using the Effective command Behavioural Marking Tool.

KLA delivers certified Incident Command Training and Assessment Products not only for Fire Service Incident Commanders but also Fire Control Room Commanders at Level 1 and 2. Are you considering investing in Incident Command Training for your Fire Control Room Commanders? our excellent Incident Command Training Course is worth looking into.
