Strategic Fire Commander Refresher & Group Strategic Decision Making Exercise – In-person

Course details and Format

This is a full day CPD event covering a strategic Fire Commander refresher in the morning and a group decision making exercise in the afternoon.

The strategic refresher can be used to accompany MAGIC courses or LRF exercises but focused on the key responsibilities of a Fire Strategic Commander rather than other agencies. The morning input covers the following areas: responsibilities of a strategic commander, Major Incidents, preparing for, attending and actions following an SCG

The group strategic decision making exercises replicate the SCG environment and is carried out with a group of peers to allow for valuable learning from others. Delegates are taken through the distinct stages of an incident, with different injects using video role-players. After each inject delegates make decisions and then discuss these decisions with peers, sharing valuable experience allowing everyone to gain additional knowledge. The sessions incorporate JESIP tools such as the Joint Decision Model and Joint Decision Controls and are based around national incident types: High Rise, Flooding, Wildfire, Marauding Terrorist Attack (MTA), Train Crash and Waste Fire.

Summary:

  • No assessment, confidential safe space to practice individually or with peers.

If you don’t have enough delegates to fill a class, there are two options:

1) You host the event and we invite delegates from neighbouring FRSs to make up the numbers.

2) We arrange for another FRS to host the event and you send your delegates there. In this example, we can arrange hotel accommodation for your delegates and include this on your invoice.
