Not quite driving home for Christmas
K Lamb Associates continue to service our clients at a time and place that works for them hence some of our delivery teams are continuing to work right up until the Christmas week. Commitment and dedication to the cause from KLA’s associates are testament to the ethos of CEO Katherine Lamb.
It was great to once again be working with Royal Berkshire Fire as they invited KLA to deliver a SFJ Awards Level 6 Award in Advanced Incident Command. Having invested in new Incident Command Training facilities, RBFRS are keen to maximise the benefits for themselves by hosting whilst welcoming other officers from Cumbria Fire, and Oxfordshire Fire. Shared lived experiences added to the learning experience.
“Good variation and appropriate incident complexity. injects and role play was good with varying personality, providing the commander the opportunity to adjust management style.” SFJ Level 6 RBFRS
Two reasons to be back at Staffordshire Fire HQ, first KLA was invited by their Incident Command Training Team to deliver the annual Effective Command (EC) Standardisation and Assessor Training Day as part of their subscription to EC. The entire SFRS team engaged enthusiastically as we went through topics including national IC trends and then drilled down into their locally identified trends. Invaluable data provided through EC that will be interoggated and fed back into the training interventions to develop their commanders at all levels.
Second visit at SFRS was to facilitate, with Staffs Civil Contingency Unit (CCU), the practical element of the SFJ Awards Level 7 Award in Strategic Incident Command. Chairing of a Strategic Coordinating Group meeting (SCG) was the order of the day for 2 delegates this time from Buckinghamshire Fire and Warwickshire Fire. A fantastic opportunity to explore and learn the intricacies of chairing a multi-agency meeting with authentic credible role players experts in their field.
“This was an outstanding example of the benefit of experiential based learning. The learning outcomes could not possibly have been achieved to anywhere near the same extent from coaching and studying alone. The feedback was structured superbly and gave me the tools, experience and confidence to work more effectively within a SCG.” SFJ Level 7 Mark Hemming Director of Finance and Assets Buckinghamshire FRS
The second phase of a SFJ Awards Level 4 Award in Designing and Delivering Incident Command Training was delivered in Tyne & Wear Fire. Delegates got to demonstrate through a variety of delivery methods the learning from phase 1 earlier in the year.
“This course was well linked together and was very relevant to my role and definitely met my expectations.” SFJ Level 4 Designing & Delivering IC Training
Katherine Lamb firmly believes that data shared on the trends for Incident Command Training and Assessment is key to developing competent thinking commanders.
