West Midlands Fire and Isle of Man Fire commissioned K Lamb Associates to deliver the SFJ awards Level 4 Award in Intermediate Incident Command in Fire and Rescue Services. Both services have excellent training rooms and facilities enabling the delivery to run smoothly. Delegates remained focused throughout using the opportunities for group discussion to expand on topical issues.
Lincolnshire Fire invited KLA to deliver a SFJ Awards Command Support Operative certificated course. Over 2-days attendees learn about this crucial role being part of the Incident Command structure. A balanced blend of knowledge input and practical exercise ensures attendees maximise the benefit of having skilled knowledgeable KLA associates at the front of the room.
Warwickshire Fire asked KLA to deliver a SFJ Awards-Effective Command-ICL3 Revalidation Assessment Day. Using purpose-built scenarios, delegates, working with their own command support teams, are exposed to challenging complex incidents. Role players add to the reality of the scene posing issues requiring a multi-agency approach to reaching decisions.
In Cambridgeshire Fire our delivery team facilitated a SFJ Awards-Effective Command-ICL4 (Tactical) Validation Assessment Day. Both candidates, attending their first ICL4 (Tactical) assessments performed well against the EC Behavioural Marking Assessment Criteria. Use of the JESIP tools helped in addressing issues affecting all agencies responding.
Working once more with Bethan Morgan and the Staffordshire Civil Contingencies Unit (CCU), 2 more delegates, from Northamptonshire Fire and Nottinghamshire Fire, took part in chairing a Strategic Coordinating Group (SCG) meeting as part of the SFJ Awards Level 7 Award in strategic Incident Command. Fascinating issues proved a challenge for each Chair enhanced by the credible authentic role players.
